BENEFICIARY

The golf tournament will benefit the construction of “core shelters” for the indigenous people (IP) of Iriga City, Philippines, who lost their homes during Typhoon Reming. The Super Typhoon Reming (International Code Name: Durian) which devastated the City on November 30, 2006 was the strongest typhoon ever recorded in the City’s history, with winds gusting over 120 MPH. The city lost about a quarter of its population’s houses which included over 280 of the IP’s houses. ECI has teamed up with several organizations including United Iriguenos Inc (UII) and started an effort to help in the construction of the IP’s “core shelters” which cost about $220.00 per shelter.
